Burner tips a power plant are the most prone equipment due to high velocity coal movement at the discharge point at high temperature. This problem though pronounces with the hard faced surface of steel plates which develop rough surface which increases eddy current to the coal laden stream, thus degrading the velocity of flow. These developed eddy current increases wear as the stream is not moving in laminar flow. As a resultant due to wear out to wear of baffle plates in the tip the monnery distribution of the coal is reduced and the coal start passing in lumps resulting in improper burning and thus reducing the process efficiency highly.
