Buttoning Job of VRM Roller (Sinter Cast)

Job Description :
  • M/S WRTPL called by Customer, for the buttoning job of Vrm roller (sinter cast) on 29/01/20
  • M/S WRTPL Inspected The Rolls, We found that maximum Wear is 45 mm depth & 40 mm width circular dia of roller in grinding zone.
Challenge for WRTPL :
  • The customer gave the challenge to WRTPL to increase the wear life and it is run up to 2000 hrs.
  • Buttoning of roller and rebuilding of vrm table it is to be done both pararllely in total time interval of 37 hrs.
Resolve problem :

WRTPL took the challenge and offered than the revolutionary electrodes that is to be done by

  • XL-CC880
  • XL-SPL
  • XL- CT2013
  • XL-CC 65
Equipments Required & Procedure :
  • 04 welding machines rectifier of 600 amps with all their leads in top of the roller.
  • Make scaf holding for all three rolls so that convenient for the welders to make buttons on the roller.
  • Open VRM slave roller  door so that both jobs buttoning & rebuilding  smoothly done it is required for safety purposes to Prevent from welding fumes as inside VRM is under confined space area and every one hrs welder changes alternately.
  • In one shift our three welder is deputed for all three rolls for 12 hrs and it is continued for next shift like that 24 hrs basis welding is continued going on.

Observation of inspection after running of 400 hrs :
  • After Inspection of the Roller We Found that MR1 & MR3 MAX Wear is 03 mm and MR2 is 05 mm.
Conclusion :

After Runing 611 Hours VRM Roller till date 02/03/20

  • Getting Smooth Wear and Minimum Wear in VRM table Liner Welding
  • Increase in TPH
    Before Buttoning 200 TPH
    After Buttoning 207 TPH
  • Vibration Level Minimised
    Before Buttoning 7 Mm/Sec
    After Buttoning 5 Mm/Sec
  • Time Saving
    As we are doing buttoning & table welding parallely inside the VRM due to this both jobs completed at the given time interval by NVCL.
